We arrive friday morning on Mugello circuit. It is first difficult to find a place to park the bikes, before we understand we can let it inside the circuit on friday, because there is really few people on that day. We go to watch the track, and, whaouh, it's ten times more impressive than Le Mans. Track is amazing, in the hills with ups and downs, and the first impression I have is Moto GPs wheeling at more than 300 km/h on the little break at the end of straight line.
We begin to walk around circuit, in order to have a look at sunday's grandstand, and also to watch all the curves.
Tifosis are installing their camps, most of thems are Vale fans, and we see 46 everywhere. And when i say everywhere, it's really everywhere!!
Morning practice is on dry track, here are the 250.
But, at the beginning of the afternoon, a big storm (with ice) arrives !! Really few riders are on the track, and, on our side, we search for a shelter.
We come back on saturday. There is a few more people, and Antoine is concentrated on its program ;-) .
Here are photos of the afternoon session, taken from the grandstand. You can see that track is ... wet (i heard it never rains in Mugello !!!).
Practice is over, Stoner is on pole, Rossi second.
Sunday arrives, and races start. In 125 class, frenchies stayed on the track at least 4 laps, before Gadea's success. In 250, Lorenzo, starting from the end of the grid after some problems in practice due to crazy weather, overtakes driver after driver to come at the first places. Unfortunately, on the last lap, he is sent in gravel trap by Bautista, which wins its first 250 race. Then, moto GPs arrive. Tifosis are living a dream, because race is first leaded by the 2 Ducatis, before Rossi overtakes them. There is an huge 150 000 persons ola going around circuit with him. He finally wins the race, and here...crazy things begin : people invade the track.
Even on two-wheels, of course without helmet, sometimes without t-shirt and making wheelings.
Ouah, what a day !! Even if tifosis are sometimes a bit 'too much', it was really worth going there. Atmosphere is really friendly, it's a family entertainment (there was a 60 years old grandma in the grandstand near me, and very few drunk people), even if some are a bit boring riding there noisy scooters all around the track. One day, I'll come back, but i also want to discover other circuits.
