Welsh mountains

August 13th / Bray - LLangurig : 232 km

Zoom back to initial map

I leave my B & B to reach Dun Laoghaire harbour, located in the south of Dublin. I board on a very modern ferrie, reaching northern Wales (Holyhead) in only 1h40. Weather is good and looks like keeping so. Great ! During a short break to rearrange my luggages, I unintendedly meet a fifty years old welsh woman, which seem to be totally drunk. She's talking to me, I answer in french, but unfortunately she feels like remembering its old french knowledges. So I put my helmet on and bye bye !

After about 30 kms on highway, I turn right towards Snowdonia park. And here I realize that Wales are absolutely not a green flat meadow full of sheeps.

Welsh Hills (2)

Which seem to be a well known touristic place of UK, and outdoor activities paradize. Kayaking, hiking, climbing, you 've got all these sports here.

Bangor Lake

But clouds come back over my head when I arrive in central Wales. Shower, fog, and a pass climb behind an huge truck : bad wet moments are back !

Old Vicarage LLangurig

Thanks god, I land in a real paradize, B&B 'The old vicarage' in LLangurig. This victorian house is owned by a very welcoming woman; you can rest in the typical british guest lounge, enjoy tea and welsh cakes, all that for only 35 E, so almost half the price of a boring and impersonnal hotel. Remember it if one day you visit central Wales.
